Chatty Child Speech & Occupational Therapy Center PLLC offers summer programs and year long enrichment classes that combines theatre arts and speech & language exploration in fun weekly sessions that all children will surely enjoy!
What is the InterAct Theatre & Therapy Lab?
This lab is an interactive, therapeutic workshop designed to promote speech and language development through a unique and creative theatre learning experience. Your child will be empowered and find their voice through this unique therapeutic technique which combines traditional speech and language methods through a fun-filled, immersive, creative and interactive theatre experience.
Who are the Creators of the InterAct: Theatre & Therapy Lab?
- Heather Boerner has a Master’s of Arts in Speech Language Pathology from New York University and a Certificate of Clinical Competency from ASHA. She holds a New York State license to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the state of New York, and holds a permanent certification as a Teacher of Speech and Language Disabilities.
- Gianna Cioffi holds a Master’s of Science in Educational Theatre from the City University of New York, and a dual Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Theater Arts and Communication Disorders from SUNY New Paltz. She is certified in New York State to teach theater arts (kindergarten through 12th grade students.) Gianna is currently an SLP graduate student with an expected graduation of 2024.
InterAct: Theatre & Therapy Lab Ensemble
Your child will become part of their own theatre ensemble! Our inclusive program is offered for all ages and abilities. Participants will be placed in age and ability-matched groups for weekly sessions. Classes are for children ages 3-to-12 years old. All educational materials are included.
Workshops and classes are held weekly during the school year in seasonal sessions for the Fall, Winter and Spring. Workshop sessions meet for 1 hour per week.

Summer 2024 Workshop
InterAct: Theatre and Therapy Lab ™ Summer Workshop Junior (JR)
Created for our younger friends, this program is aimed to get children ready to transition into the classroom and/or other collaborative settings. We use a multidisciplinary creative arts-based approach to specifically target early literacy skills, foundational speech and language development, social-emotional learning, speech clarity, peer interactions, as well as fine motor and gross motor development. Your child will engage in uniquely tailored activities and weekly curated themes. July 17th to August 11th, 2023, M-F, daily classes, 9:00am – 11:00am. This class will be medically coded for reimbursement.
Extended Day- Sensory Art
Come join us as part of the extended day for InterAct Junior Lab or drop in for some creative fun! Children will explore their five senses through a variety of process and sensory art projects while working collaboratively in a social setting. This class runs Monday-Friday, weekly. Each class is 1 hour per day from 11 am to 12pm. It will run from July 17th to August 11th, 2023. Families can sign up per week, or for as many of the 4 weeks, as they choose. Classes are tailored for children 3- 5 years old. The class has a maximum of five (5) children per group. COVID-19 precautions will be taken, per the current CDC regulations, during all in-person classes. All educational materials are provided. This class CANNOT be medically coded for reimbursement.
InterAct: Theatre and Therapy Lab ™ Summer Ensemble
Crafted for our older friends, this program utilizes interactive theatre scripts and immersive, sensory story-telling experiences to improve literacy, critical thinking skills, social emotional learning, confidence in public speaking, and social engagement with peers. Your child will engage in immersive story-telling scripts that encourage creative thinking and creative play through sensory exploration and creative storytelling journeys. This summer group class runs from July 17th to August 11th, 2023, Monday afternoons from 5pm to 6pm, for six (6) weekly classes. Classes are tailored for children 6-10 years old. Group sizes are 3-5 children per group. COVID-19 precautions will be taken, per the current CDC regulations, during all in-person classes. All educational materials are provided. This class will be medically coded for reimbursement.
